Our CMI Level 2 Team Leader Programmes are designed for team leaders, to support the development of their skills in leading teams, making sure that the teams work achieves organisational objectives and contributes to planning, problem solving and decision-making.

These programmes are for those who want to develop skills such as team leading, communication, monitoring performance, controlling resources, building relationships and providing customer service.

Online delivery, featuring executive coaching and tutor support.

Award: 3 x 1-2-1 tuition sessions – monthly (MS Teams or Zoom).

The award provides the basis for team leading and the certificate provides a deeper learning experience.

Learners who are, or aspire to be team leaders or supervisors.

No formal qualifications are required.

Which qualifications will successful participants gain?

Successful completion of these programmes leads to the award of the CMI Level 2 Award or Certificate in Team Leading.

How is the programme structured?

The course is delivered through a blended approach, incorporating workshops, online learning, group coaching, work based learning and assessments.

Learners meet regularly with their tutor and are supported in their journey by a dedicated Learner Manager.

CMI Unit 2001 Personal Development as a Team Leader

This unit focuses on developing the skills and knowledge of a team leader and looking after team welfare. By the end of this unit, you will be able to:

  • Be able to identify work objectives and the skills and knowledge required to meet them
  • Be able to agree, implement and review the development plan to meet work objective
  • Understand team leader’s responsibility for welfare in the work area
  • Understand the team leader’s responsibilities in relation to discrimination, harassment and diversity

CMI Unit 2002 Communicating with a Team

 This unit is about organising and leading a team briefing to communicate within the team.

By the end of this unit, you will be able to:

  1. Understand the role of communication in leading a team
  2. Understand how to organise team briefings
  3. Understand how to lead team briefings

CMI Unit 2003 Monitoring Team Performance

This unit is about leading the team in planning, reviewing and achieving the work to meet required objectives.

By the end of this unit, you will be able to:

  • Understand the team objectives and plan for achievement
  • Be able to plan to achieve team objectives
  • Be able to monitor and review your team’s performance
  • Understand how to evaluate your team’s work performance

CMI Unit 2004 Controlling Team Resources

This unit is about identifying, sourcing, managing and maximising resources to achieve team objectives.

By the end of this unit, you will be able to:

  • Be able to identify and source resources needed to achieve team objectives
  • Be able to manage the resources effectively and efficiently to achieve team objectives
  • Be able to identify and reduce resource wastage

CMI Unit 2005 Building Work Relationships

This unit is about understanding how to communicate and develop work relationships with the manager, team and those outside the team.

By the end of this unit, you will be able to:

  • Understand how to communicate and maintain working relationships with the manager
  • Understand how to communicate and maintain working relationships with the team
  • Understand how to develop work relationships outside the team

CMI Unit 2006 Developing Team Members

is about inducting a new team member and identifying, planning and implementing team training.

By the end of this unit, you will be able to:

  • Understand how to plan and implement induction for a new team member
  • Understand how to identify and plan the training needs of team members
  • Be able to train a team member to carry out a task

CMI Unit 2007 Providing Customer Service

This unit is about identifying different customers, providing the right level of service and resolving customer issues.

By the end of this unit, you will be able to:

  • Be able to identify the team’s customers and the level of service required

CMI Unit 2008 Being an Effective Team Leader

This unit is about the responsibilities of a team leader and the impact of leadership style and motivational techniques on team performance.

  • Understand a range of leadership styles applicable to different situations
  • Understand how the effective team leader builds a shared sense of purpose with a team

CMI Unit 2009 Introduction to Team Leading

This unit will give you confidence when leading teams in different situations and the skills to plan, deliver and monitor work.

You will explore the role of the team leader and plan your own development whether you are new to team leading or aspire to role of team leader.

You will learn how to build trust and effective and relationships with colleagues, the art of giving constructive feedback and the different approaches and techniques to delegating, communicating and planning with your team in different work situations.
