One programme, two qualifications
As a long-established ILM and CMI approved awarding centre, our programmes are accredited through globally recognised awarding bodies.
Apprentices who complete our School of Leadership & Management apprenticeship programmes will receive two qualifications – the relevant apprenticeship standard and an ILM or CMI Diploma at either level 3, level 5 or level 7.
What can an apprentice expect?
Prior to undertaking an apprenticeship programme you will be asked to undertake an initial skill can, including functional skills, and you will work with your tutor to create your individual learning plan.
The initial Skill Scan is an initial assessment, linked to the relevant apprentice standard, that
- determines a learner’s eligibility to take a place on an apprentice programme.
- helps to ensure that a learner is on the correct programme.
- helps to ascertain starting points on programmes.
- provides insights into recognition of prior learning, if that is relevant.
The aim of our Initial Skills Analysis is to provide a staring gauge for the learner.
It will highlight where they are in their learning journey at the beginning of the programme. It also helps to focus the learner on the areas for their own personal development and their strengths and weaknesses in relation to the ILM and Apprenticeship standards and the ILM and CMI standards required.
This analysis is conducted at the mid way point and again at the end point. This will provide the organisation and the learner with a clear record of achievements, impacts and progression and will form part of their portfolio.
The learner will complete this analysis with their tutor and we also encourage the learners line manager to attend these meetings. The conversation becomes a true 1-2-2 conversation and is really helpful when it comes to keeping up the good appraisal and learning practices following completion of the programme.
Developing good managerial and developmental habits is the cornerstone of all leadership and management education.
It is a requirement that all apprentice learners have GSCE grade 4 or equivalent qualifications in Maths and English.
Where a learner is unable to evidence achievement or did not achieve at the required level, they will be required to prepare for and achieve Functional Skills exams at level 2. We will support them throughout this process.
All learners on a level 3 apprenticeship will have functional skills embedded in their curriculum, regardless of prior attainment. Demonstration of achievement is required at all levels.
This is followed by a one-to-one process with the apprentice and their tutor, once the apprentice is on-programme, leading to the development of an individual learning plan.
The learning plan and progress against the relevant apprentice standard is monitored regularly throughout the learner’s journey through the programme.
We recommend that the apprentices line manager is involved in the development of the individual learning plan and maintains an active role throughout the apprenticeship programme. There is more detail on this within each of the apprenticeship programme.
Key focus of workshops and 1-2-1 tuition and coaching sessions
There are differences in focus, depth and subject matters in the level 3, level 5 and level 7, but our aims and visions remain the same.
We help the learners to create their own good habits to help them become effective people.
We help them to understand their own personal vision, their personal brand, what kind of leader and/or manager they could be, before progressing to inter-personal leadership, communication, and creative cooperation.
Building experience and confidence of making people, operational and financial decisions, managing and delivering projects and developing and motivating employees.
The underlying aim of these sessions is to prepare the foundations on which the learning and application of leadership and management theory and practical activities will be built upon and put into everyday practice in the apprentices role.
